NSW: Sydney Ferries could go private within a year

The New South Wales government is promising to look for the best proposal for running
Sydney Harbour ferries .. but not necessarily the cheapest.

Transport Minister DAVID CAMPBELL called for expressions of interest yesterday from
the private sector to run the service .. and says they could be privatised within a year.

He says Sydney Ferries .. who run the service now .. won't need to submit its own expression
of interest to retain the service .. but private sector applications will be benchmarked
against Sydney Ferries operations.
