Fed: Radio Australia more actrive in Asia Pacific =2
ABC chairman DONALD MCDONALD has refused to link the government's announcement of more
ABC programs for the Asia Pacific region to the regional crises.
Mr MCDONALD says it's a terrific break for the ABC as its reach into Asia has been
greatly limited for the last three years.
Meanwhile, the government says an editorially independent television service is also
in Australia's national interest and it will canvass ways to continue commercial television
broadcasts to Asia.
