Vic: Govt to come under pressure on police files as parly resume

The Victorian government will come under renewed pressure over the state's police filesscandal when state parliament resumes today after a three-month break.

The government intends to pursue key environmental changes during the spring session, with new bills to implement permanent water saving measures and reduce logging volumes.

Manager of Government Business PETER BATCHELOR says the environment bills are among60 pieces of legislation prepared for the session.

But Deputy Opposition Leader PHIL HONEYWOOD says they intend placing the spotlighton the long-running police files scandal, and Police Minister ANDRE HAERMEYER's role init.

Mr HONEYWOOD says the opposition also will target the government over its refusal torelease documents on the cost of the state's synchrotron project, which he says has blown-outsignificantly.
